  • Overview

    Performs analytical work within the arenas of logistics, transportation and supply chain to monitor metrics & KPIs, support the development of network optimization plans, collaborate with the team on problem resolution and decision making, assist with negotiating contracts and other reporting to support the logistics team. (60%)

     

    Execute the freight pay and audit functions of contract carrier invoice processing and strive towards continuous improvement of the FP&A (freight pay & audit) process. (30%)

     

    Work closely with finance to ensure accuracy of transportation financials and assist with reporting to bring visibility to budget variances. (10%)

    Responsibilities

     

    • Perform data gathering from multiple systems for reporting metrics and KPIs critical to the logistics team
    • Manage urgent ad hoc and routine analytical requests to meet the needs of logistics management
    • Model data to facilitate root cause analysis, continuous improvement and fact-based decisions for a variety of logistics issues
    • Summarizes data by explaining cause and effect business trends and anomalies along with conclusions
    • Monitor and manage service level exceptions such as tender rejections, missed pickups/deliveries, or OS&D out of assigned shipping points. Manage and processes all Freight Claims.
    • Responsible for reporting on time service, capacity management and freight costs to ensure attainment of budget and service level requirements
    • Analyze shipping volumes for DC’s, plants, and other shipping points
    • Evaluate and communicate trade-offs between costs and service between truckload, LTL, parcel, etc.
    • Audit carrier invoices and submits payment requests to Accounts Payable
    • Maintain invoicing integrity through audit and collaborate with contract carriers to improve and streamline all invoicing activities
    • Investigates and responds to carrier billing issues and carrier inquiries regarding payment of invoices/accounts and manages carrier invoice aging reports
    • Review and create Access and Excel reports to assist in the management of the FP&A process

    Qualifications

    Position Requirements 

    • 1-5 years logistics/transportation industry experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or Logistics

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Experience in an analytical position, preferably in logistics or supply chain
    • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to multitask and easily switch between tasks as priorities change
    • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, strategic and analytical thinker
    • Ability to analyze information and provide fact-based recommendations

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
    • Experience in Microsoft Access and Microsoft Power BI
    • Experience working in a TMS (BluJay Solutions f.k.a LeanLogistics) and performing FP&A activities

    Working Conditions (if applicable)
