In this Warehouse Team Manager role, you will create a culture of teamwork, engagement, accountability and develop a successful Order Fulfillment team through coaching, mentoring and challenging them with high expectations. You will also help implement changes to improve efficiency and reduce waste. This high impact role is based out Sleep Number's Salt Lake City, UT manufacturing plant. 


  • Plan, organize and direct Order Fulfillment department operations which ensure the most effective return on assets.
  • Provide dotted-line leadership to all OF shift personnel
  • Continuously improve performance as measured by Key Performance Indicators for processes in the department
  • Work with Quality department to ensure finished product meets specifications and processes are compliant
  • Lead lean initiatives in department and participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Manage spending against budget and in relation to changes in production volume
  • Establish a high performing team environment through implementation of management practices which foster employee engagement.
  • Manage team training program and ensure adherence to department procedures
  • Develop and cross-train team to ensure backups in place for all key positions.
  • Continually improve safety record by addressing physical safety issues
  • Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas.
  • Meet inventory accuracy objectives through execute inventory control procedures. 


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing management. Warehouse/Distribution background highly desired
  • Bachelor's degree required; preferably in business or engineering
  • Formal Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma training
  • Must have demonstrated process improvement and systematic process improvement skills
  • Experience with fundamental manufacturing and operations principles and practices
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution experience
  • Effective organizing and planning skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to influence others
  • Ability to investigate and troubleshoot production problems
  • Proven ability to lead others through change
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop employees
  • OSHA / Safety Requirements for manufacturing
  • Oracle or other ERP software knowledge. Must be systems-savvy.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to material handling equipment, moderate noise and the use of protective eye equipment
  • Must be able to travel (domestic) and work long hours as needed
  • Must also be able to support other shifts and work weekends, as needed.
