The Benefits Manager will be responsible for design, implementation and administration of Sleep Number’s overall benefit strategy. Manages program development and execution to ensure that the company provides benefits which attract, retain, and motivate employees while supporting the company’s profitable growth vision.


  • Develop and implement overall benefit strategy and supporting competitive, innovative benefits programs in order to cultivate an environment of well-being and shared fiscal responsibility.
  • Measure effectiveness of current benefit programs, including trend analysis and cost-control/risk assessment factors, and provide creative recommendations for on-going enhancements.
  • Manage vendor relationships to drive benefit process efficiency and compliance resulting in overall employee satisfaction and fiscal responsibility.
  • Drive employee understanding and culture of well-being through development of effective communication tools and resources
  • Develop and coach benefit staff to effectively interpret and communicate benefit information and provide guidance to managers, employees and Human Capital staff on benefit programs to obtain maximum level of employee understanding and appreciation.
  • May perform other duties as assigned


  • 10+ years progressive benefits experience for a multi-state employer, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and develop / build overall Benefits strategy and execute against long-term goals for development.
  • BA/BS Degree in human resources
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist Designation preferred
  • Ability to be flexible and to handle multiple projects in a high growth setting
  • Ability to influence business leaders with innovative benefit program solutions that meet and exceed the company’s total rewards mission
  • Able to develop strong working relationships with customers and foster trust in handling confidential situations
  • Strong analytical skills and supportive systems leverage (particularly Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving ability, particularly in ambiguous or complex situations. Understands and considers broad implications of business unit needs or decisions
