Overview

Sleep Number is seeking a highly capable Product Quality Assurance Lead who, In collaboration with our SleepIQ QA, Development and Product managers, will define, execute and report Sleep Number's test strategy along with test coverage, required resources, testing results, and defects discovered. This role will progress test automation capabilities and needs, as well as be expected to lead and mentor other testers on testing best practices and standards. Further, the Product Lead will establish integration points for customer escalation and in-home testing in overall testing process, support product development in product requirement gathering in relation to edge cases, integration and risk evaluation, and be accountable for the delivery of high quality software and firmware releases that support both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with team to create test plan for each release, including:
    • Estimate and planning of time and resources, entry/exit criteria, risk assessment, contingency planning, measurement of progress
    • Prioritization of testing activity based on the goals and objectives of the product release
    • Determine test process and methodology to be used, ensuring appropriate to content of the release
    • Alignment of plan with stakeholders
  • Continuous improvement – identify opportunities for testing growth and apply with regular cadence
  • Maintain test equipment inventory and needs definition
  • Partner with team on build progression and provide input on QA environment needs  
  • Direct and monitor testing activities
  • Contact point for project managers and product development managers for testing progress
  • Communicate risks, issues and contingency plans related to testing progress
  • Plan, document and approve overall test results
  • Create and execute test cases based on the release test plan

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field
  • 8+ years experience in QA, working with large, complex projects
  • 3+ years experience in Test automation
  • 3+ years experience in leading a QA team or equivalent
  • Experience in testing mobile, cloud, API, software, firmware, and Internet 
  • In-depth knowledge of a variety of testing techniques and methodologies
  • Passion for innovation and motivating others to adopt new testing technologies
  • Experience with testing tools such as Test Rail, Xamarin, ALM
  • Experience with agile methodology 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills – ability to effectively communicate concepts to peers and senior-level management, as well as breakdown complex situations into simple language.

  • Detail orientated and organized
